Help SistahFaith reach #1
on the Essence Bestsellers List!

“Powerful women! Powerful speakers! Powerful stories!”
Pam Perry, Chief Visionary, Ministry Marketing Solutions, Inc

Ashamed No More

Every woman needs a safe place… She needs the support of sistahs who won’t cringe at the honest truth, who are willing to walk by her side, who will listen to her stories, and who will offer balm to heal her wounds.

SistahFaith …true stories of women of women who have not only survived, but who have triumphed! Stories of addiction, abortion, rape, abuse, incest, suicide, teen pregnancy-stories of hope that shine light on the path to healing.

Most women endure in silence – afraid to tell the truth, held captive by shame. But in SistahFaith, women tell the truth and show their scars…share their testimonies so that others can overcome.

Among the women who share their stories of redemption, hope, and new life are Bonnie DeBarge of the famed Motown group DeBarge, award-winning author Sharon Ewell Foster, and author Claudia Mair Burney.

Share SistahFaith: Real Stories of Pain, Truth, and Triumph (Howard Books/Simon and Schuster) with the sistahs in your life and let the healing begin!

Essence of Motown Literary Conference & Jam

October 19, 2010
Motown Writers Network Announces
7th Annual Essence of Motown Literary Conference & Jam
A Celebration of the Literary Arts in Detroit
DETROIT – “Is There A Book In You?” is the theme of the 7th Annual Essence of Motown Literary Conference and Jam, hosted by the Motown Writers Network, in partnership for a second year with the non-profit organization, Detroit Impact.  The conference is November 12 and 13, 2010 and aims to celebrate the literary arts with Detroit area authors, writers and avid readers.
The two-day event is an opportunity for aspiring and established authors and writers to connect with colleagues, peers and most importantly, patrons of their art: readers.  Since 2000, the Motown Writers Network has served as a viable resource and networking organization for writers in the metropolitan Detroit area.  This year is the organization’s 10th anniversary.
“I’m so excited about this year’s conference,” says Sylvia Hubbard, founder of the Motown Writers Network.  “The conference has grown so much through the years and this being our 10- year anniversary as an organization just shows that the literary community in Detroit is alive and hungry for resources.  And that’s what we strive to bring.”
Presenting at the conference are such notables as New York best-selling author, publisher and visionary, Relentless Aaron and Detroit urban music author, Chris Campbell.  The event will also feature literary experts, publishers for pitching sessions, workshops, and awards.
The conference host partner, Detroit Impact has supported the Motown Writers Network since its inception, according to Calvin Colbert, executive director.
“Sylvia and I go way back,” says Colbert.  “Years ago, she volunteered with us as a young mother, bringing her children with her.  She shared her dream to have the Motown Writers Network and we’ve seen her dream come true. So, definitely, we’re one of her strongest supporters.  Writing and reading are very important parts of our programs at the Detroit Impact Center and we encourage those efforts every opportunity we can.”
For parents who want to attend the conference, there will be a Literary Kids Zone with activities for children and youth.  Many of the conference activities are of no charge to attendees.
The two-day schedule for the 7th Annual Essence of Motown Literary Conference & Jam is as follows:

Over the past seven years, more than 1,500 authors, writers and readers have gathered to celebrate the literary arts in Detroit and to strengthen literacy in metro Detroit.  To that end, conference attendees are encouraged to bring teen and adult books to the conference, which will be donated to the Detroit Impact Center’s Youth Library and Pro-Literacy of Detroit.
Sponsors of the 7th Annual Essence of Motown Literary Conference & Jam include Penguin Books (New York), Rolling Out Magazine, Miller Design Studio and HubBooks.
